A Letter From The Spiritual Director
FEBRUARY 7
FEBRUARY 7
A New Season
Solomon writes in Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. January is in the books, February is underway. For many of us we’re still recovering from the Holidays. On the church calendar we are through Advent and Lent begins this month! When you consider recent years there have been political seasons, pandemic seasons, and many others! I am beginning a new season as the Community Spiritual Director of the Georgia Foothills Walk to Emmaus Community! I am excited to serve our community!
So, let’s be honest for a moment, our Methodist Brothers and Sisters have been through a difficult season called “Disaffiliation!” I’m not here to advocate for one side or the other, I want to share my heart. The Walk to Emmaus from the beginning has been an ecumenical movement, meaning representing a number of different Christian Churches. If you go to https://www.upperroom.org/walktoemmaus and read about the walk it says, “The Walk to Emmaus develops Christian disciples and leaders by inspiring, challenging, and equipping active adult church members for Christian action in their homes, churches, workplaces, and communities. It also benefits less active members who are seeking to renew a relationship with God, grow spiritually, or discover firmer foundations for their lives.”
Emmaus Community, I want to invite you to join with me in prayer for our Georgia Foothills Community. We’ve survived a pandemic and many other things! I think its time to think about our Priorities, God’s Grace and the 15 focuses (talks) that changed our lives! If we’ve ever needed more disciples with a firm foundation, it’s today! I believe Jesus is calling us to have our hearts burn (Luke 24:32) again! Pray for our community, our churches, for one another and the pilgrims to come! Remember, Christ is counting on YOU! Are YOU counting on Christ?
De Colores,
Pastor David

Who Should Be a Pilgrim?
Regardless of the activities of Spring 2024, we are planning now for our next 3-Day Weekend, probably in September. Applications are now being accepted.
Whom should we sponsor?
- Church leaders, both clergy and lay
- Dependable church members who are the backbone of the church.
- Less active members who need their awareness of grace rekindled
- Christians who hunger for "something more"
- A cross section of church membership
- Other respected laypeople and clergy who can fill a leadership role
- Members of diverse congregations, denominations, and ethnic groups.
